The engine has a power output of 400 hp (406 PS 298 kW) at 5,750 rpm and 519 N⋅m (383 lb⋅ft) of torque at 3,750 rpm in the SLK55 AMG Black Series. The G 500 and ML 500 both use a deforced version of the 5-liter M113 engine and their output is 292 bhp (296 PS 218 kW) and 288 bhp (292 PS 215 kW) respectively. Other features include Sequential fuel injection, iron coated piston skirts, fracture-split forged steel connecting rods, a one-piece cast camshaft, and a magnesium intake manifold.
